Jose Cobo
b. 1958, Santander, Spain.
<<The figures represent children inspecting the physical world for the first time. They measure the space with the span of their own bodies, bodies that become the main reference for the size and shape of “reality”. Their colorfulness, swift movements and interactions with each other and with the surroundings hints to an active and playful learning process.
The integration of the piece in the space, the lighting that floods it, the form of the exhibition galleries and their walls become part of the installation. The children are life size. Even if smaller than we are, we recognize them as our own. The same human scale, a shared early experience of the world while defying gravity as they crawl on the wall.>>
