Maxim Wakultschik
born 1973  in Minsk

Maxim Wakultschik uses art as a medium and vehicle to become aware of the uniqueness of everyday encounterences. He invites us downright to reflect them in a meditative way. He depicts the concentration of the moment, the look in the eye as a concentrated, essential image. Like a kind of symbol or brand it might be perceived  quickly and catchy, memorable and first and foremost continue to have an energetic effect. Mirror reflections, his skillful application of light and shadow and in different nuances shimmering, gleaming colors bring back memories to cult figures which to worship.

The works by  Maxim Wakultschik  to a large extend are mathematically precise and accurate constructions that create formal order from chaos of detached and separate elements. His complex and multilayered objects are product of interplay between lights and shadows, which produce colorful and deep illusion of reality. His works are proactive.

Multipersonality Series

Maxim Wakultschik’s Multipersonality series feature a range of sculptural portraits that play with color and perspective in new and exciting ways. While exploring the possibility of the fragmentation of the human face the artist experiments with striking and complex color combinations and investigates the ways in which a three-dimensional surface can inspire the viewer to interact with an art object by inviting him or her to move around it.

The Multipersonality series are, perhaps, best described as ‚sculpture-paintings, since instead of a traditional canvas the artist uses a three-dimensional surface. The resulting perspectival play moves the viewer, in a very literal sense: to discover all of its many facets, he or she is forced to move around the work.
